It can be used for simple plots, statistics, common calculations, coordinate conversions, and manipulating FITS images with World Coordinate System (WCS) information through PyWCSTools - a simple wrapping of WCSTools by Jessica Mink. PyWCSTools is distributed (and developed) as part of astLib.
